Gareth

Gareth’s dream is to be part of a church planting movement that re-ignites reformation in Germany. Gareth moved to Berlin in December 2007 and was followed by a team in 2008 with the purpose of planting a church-planting church that reaches young Germans. Before that Gareth has lived in Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa, and was the senior pastor of His People Christian Church in Grahamstown South Africa since 2000. Gareth’s core passions are fathering leaders, planting churches, and reforming the nations. He emphasises raising up warrior sons and daughters who know they are Abba’s delight and who burn to make Jesus famous in all the earth. Outside of family and ministry Gareth loves socialising with friends, reading, travelling, eating unhealthy food and theological debates. He is gratefully married to Taryn and has four gorgeous children, Joseph, Jenna, Katarina and Benjamin, who are the apple of his eye.

Taryn

Taryn’s life story is a powerful testimony of God’s healing, restoration and victory.  Seeing the kindness and life-giving power of Jesus Christ at work in her own life has caused Taryn to envision Germans free in their emotions, worship and relationships. Her deep passions are authenticity, justice, restoration, caring for creation, worship and mothering. She is gifted in the areas of the prophetic, preaching, counselling and discipleship.
After being born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Taryn moved to Grahamstown to study at Rhodes University.  Here she obtained an Honours degree in English Literature and also met Gareth, whom she married in 2000. Taryn has four children who she is deeply devoted to: Joseph, Jenna, Katarina and Benjamin. In her spare time she enjoys creative crafts, reading, travelling, gardening and pottering around the house.

Chris

Chris is sold out on achieving as much for God as he can within his lifetime! He loves meeting and befriending people, especially if they are interesting creative types who can engage with him on topics such as film, poetry, philosophy, and food, which are his passions. Chris grew up on the warm beaches of South Africa, surfing, swimming, and scoring many touch rugby tries against his brothers. After finishing university in Grahamstown, South Africa, he worked for His People Christian Church in Grahamstown as a youth minister. He moved to Berlin in May 2008, and apart from working for the church, he is also pursuing postgraduate studies in English Literature at the Free University. Chris’ primary responsibilities in the church are media and evangelism. He burns to see Berliners encounter God and find community in the church, and to see the city become a place where the love of Jesus reigns.
