Abba
“Abba” is an intimate term from the Bible when referring to God as our loving Father – literally translated it means “Papa” or “Daddy”. “Abba” was the word Jesus used most often when referring to God.
Church
In the Bible the original Greek word for “church” is “ekklesia”, which means people who are called out by God. It refers to those people who have responded to the Gospel and have put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. So “Church” is actually the gathering of God’s people. People and not buildings are the church!
Church plant
A church plant is the establishing of a new church community.
Disciple
A follower of Jesus.
Discipleship
The process of learning how to be a follower of Jesus.
Evangelism
Evangelism is telling others the good news that Jesus died on the Cross to pay for the sins of the world and to bring people into a relationship with God the Father.
Gospel
The word Gospel means “good news” and refers to the good news that through Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection humanity can be reconciled to God and begin a relationship with God.
Intercession
Praying that God would do something for someone else.
Lord
The word is synonymous with “King” and refers to the truth that God is our Creator and Master and deserves to have the first place in everything.
Prophecy
God is relational and He talks to His people. Prophecy is when a person hears what God has to say and then shares that prophetic word with someone else or with the church.
Reformation
Reformation is when God renews peoples hearts and the Church which
ultimately improves and blesses the culture and society. The
Reformation that Martin Luther began renewed the Church and brought
many benefits to Western Civilisation.
